Nicki Minaj and Nas kissing in "Right By My Side" video
This must be WTF Wednesday. Rapper Nicki Minaj premiered her music new video for “Right By My Side” today, in which she enlists hip-hop legend Nas as her love interest. The track appears on her sophomore studio album, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded (iTunes / Amazon), which dropped on April 3rd.
As if Nicki‘s horrible choice in lacefront wigs isn’t enough (the edges are killing me), the chemistry between her and Nasir starts and ends at the two being from Queens. Directed by Benny Boom, the visuals seem to be thrown together, as Chris Brown – who is actually the song’s featured vocal – is randomly squeezed in between the awkwardness.
Described as an upbeat, downtempo ballad, “Right by My Side” was written by Ester Dean, Minaj, and Safaree Samuels, with production Andrew “Pop” Wansel, Oak, JProof, and Flip. Watch the video for the song below.
