In her acting debut, singer Jordin Sparks graces the official poster for Sparkle, a remake of the 1976 musical film. Directed by Salim Akil, Sparkle also stars the late Whitney Houston, Derek Luke (HawthoRNe), comedian Mike Epps, Carmen Ejogo (Lackawanna Blues), Tika Sumpter (The Game), Omari Hardwick (For Colored Girls), and singer/producer Cee Lo Green.
The Supremes-inspired film centers on three singing teenage sisters from Harlem who form a girl group in the late 1950s during the Motown era. Sparkle features songs from the original film written by soul musician Curtis Mayfield as well as new compositions by R&B artist R. Kelly.
