Cassie Nails First TV Performance in Six Years on BET’s 106 & Park

Cassie 106th and Park 2012

Cassie on BET’s 106 and Park, April 24th

Bad Boy‘s first lady Cassie hit BET‘s 106 & Park stage today with a plan to redeem herself, performing the Kanye West remix for her new single “King of Hearts. In 2006, the “Me and You” singer struggled to win even dedicated fans over, lacking the ability to dance or sing live. In all honesty, it was horrible and seemed career-ending. But apparently, the 24-year-old beauty took that criticism and went to work.

Granted, we’ll never experience Cassie belting out Beyoncé riffs or delivering mind-blowing Janet moves, but the performance is impressive–even with the low bar in mind. She had the crowd on their feet, singing along, dancing and cheering her on as she managed to stay on key and work that Laurieann Gibson choreography. There’s absolutely no question of whether Cassie has improved and this has us excited!

The performance was especially critical in securing her current fan base and those of us who wish her the best, but who have found it hard to see her place in music. “King of Hearts” will appear on Cassie‘s untitled sophomore album sometime this year and it’s available now on iTunes.

Apparently, she’s still seeking up and coming producers for the release, so be sure to hit her up on Twitter. Watch her 106 & Park performance below.

Cassie did great! Mucho mucho improvement. I’m such a fan of this girl and I’ve been rooting for her to take it to the top. I actually love her first album (r&b) and the subsequent singles that she released but I think she may have finally found her sound. She has a poppy, airy tone so dance/electronic music suits her voice.
