Today MTV announced that it will launch a weekly late-night music talk and performance show called MTV’s Hip-Hop POV, which is set to debut on April 11th at midnight, after Randy Jackson’s new season of America’s Best Dance Crew.
The show will be filmed in New York and will feature five music industry personalities giving commentary on the day’s hip-hop news and music and conducting artist interviews, with each episode ending in an intimate performance.
Announced panelists for the show include NYC’s Power 105′s Charlamagne Tha God; journalist and blogger Sowmya Krishnamurthy; VP of A&R at Def Jam, Bu Thiam; DJ, standup comic, musician and TV personality Amanda Seales, and Sirius XM‘s Sway in the Morning‘s Devi Dev.
Take a look at what Amy Doyle, who serves as the network’s EVP, Music & Talent Strategy had to say below:
“MTV’s Hip-Hop P.O.V. is an exciting, new weekly platform that shines the spotlight on the pulse of what’s relevant to hip-hop fans. With its dominance of the music charts, global impact and cultural influence, we wanted to find a way to harness the passion that MTV viewers have for hip-hop culture and provide its latest and greatest stars and personalities with a brand new stage here at MTV.”
This seems quite interesting. Though I’m not really a big fan of hip-hop I will be tuning into the premeire episode of the show, just to see hopw it all comes together. How about you?
