Actor and 2012 NAACP Award Winner Laz Alonso graces the cover of Heed Magazine‘s Spring 2012 issue.

Originally an investment banker on Wall Street, he shares his journey to Broadway, and how pursuing his passion with humility and perseverance landed him a spot among acting’s elite.

Heed, which has only been available digitally, prepares to make its national print debut at Barnes & Noble on Tuesday, April 10th.

Although recently killed off of the second season of A&E‘s Breakout Kings, the sexy Cuban-American actor is set to soon play a NYPD detective—alongside Meagan Good—in a new NBC drama titled, Notorious.

It will be the first time the network has cast two Black actors in a lead since its very short-lived drama Undercovers which starred Boris Kodjoe and Gugu Mbaha-Raw.

Love Laz…..it is so very sexy to see a black man that is smart and savy with finances, that is a very attractive and endearing quality and very rare unfortunantly. It is so refreshing to see a black male celebrity who is not behind on child support, or evading taxes, declaring bankruptcy, going through a messy devorce, or fighting with his baby mama. There is hope after all apparently…..
