That Adele reign just won’t let up. The British song bird’s 2nd studio album 21 spends its 22nd week at the #1 spot on the Billboard 200 chart and is now the longest running #1 album since Prince & the Revolution’s Purple Rain soundtrack, which scored 24 weeks at #1 in 1984 and 1985. 21 has also managed to sell a total of 7.65 million here in the U.S., with 1.83 million being sold this year.
The late Whitney Houston’s Whitney: the Greatest Hits , still sits at #2 with 174,000 while Tyga, whose 2nd album Careless World: Rise of the Last King was projected to sell 80,000 copies, only managed to debut with a total of 60,000.
