Must Have: ‘128 Beats Per Minute: Diplo’s Visual Guide to Music, Culture, and Everything in Between’

Diplo's Visual Guide to Music, Culture, and Everything in Between

Wesley Pentz aka Diploworld-renowned DJ, producer and cultural influencer, has released his first literary project entitled 128 Beats Per Minute: Diplo’s Visual Guide to Music, Culture, and Everything in Between. We’ll now be able to journey alongside the genius whose credits include M.I.A.’s “Paper Planes,” Chris Brown‘s “Look at Me Now,” and Beyoncé’s “Run the World (Girls).”

This seems like a natural progression from his contributions to Vanity Fair. He’s long been documenting his travels throughout the world, bringing genres such as Brazilian baile funk and Angolan kuduro with him.

For 128 Beats Per Minute, Diplo has evoked the talents of Annie Leibovitz‘ former photography assistant Shane Mccauley as well as a forward from fashion designer Alexander Wang. The 224-page book captures the DJ’s experiences over the course of seven years. Each chapter is based on different countries and regions including Israel, Trinidad, Russia, Asia, etc. and comes with a playlist for that country.
