We’re not ignoring The Weeknd

The Weeknd

In response to some concerned readers, we admit that we haven’t covered much from Ethiopian-Canadian singer The Weeknd (Abel Tesfaye) whose echoing crooning has been dominating everyone’s playlists lately.

Being taken under Drake‘s wing this year has skyrocketed people’s fascination with the artist. The Weeknd‘s collaboration on Take Care has resulted in one of the most talked-about tracks this month entitled, “Crew Love.”

By no means have we been uninterested, just mostly perplexed by his music which does not just exhibit extremely dark, moodiness—but also a disturbing dependency on drugs and rampant objectification of women.

What am I talking about? One of his most enticing tracks entitled “The Zone,” the first I heard from the artist, lures you into some of the creepiest lyrics I’ve ever heard:

Listen to “The Zone”

“I’ll be making love to her through you,
So let me sip this slow
And I won’t  see a  damn thing,
I can’t  feel a damn thing,
But I’mma touch you right”

WHAT THE FUCK!?

He’s frickin’ weird, talented… but weird. With that said, we promise not to keep that weirdness from you any longer.
